As governments continue to stress protections for children online, the EARN IT Act's really a suppressant under the #DigitalRegulationsAgenda.
The Government's Encouraging Censorship
Thank YouTube's Philip DeFranco for taking the time to share this news with us during the dark times of the coronavirus pandemic, because we almost forgot about this authoritarian madness.
The GOP South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham's EARN IT Act is a bipartisan effort to protect children online with chilling consequences as it's really "the end the internet as we know it" - please don't be fooled.
Tanizzle's Biggest Problem
Tanizzle's pro-technology in all aspects and we're certainly not fans of internet regulations especially under the pretence of "protecting children from online harms", when in actual fact they crave "more control" over the masses.
Yes children should be protected and we won't disparage efforts to assure this, but the proposed bill strenuously named Eliminating Abusive and Rampant Neglect of Interactive Technologies (EARN IT) will strip legal protections from internet services - social media platforms - subsequently forcing censorship and undermining security.
Similarly to the United Kingdom's inconsiderate proposals to combat online harms, the EARN IT Act isn't rational and coincides with everything wrong about control and order. Please ask yourself the following: Would I protect my property with locks to keep myself safe from criminals, but build a special entrance for law enforcement?
If you answered with a resounding "NO" well done, but if the contrary, you really need to consider how you'll stop criminals from gaining access.
Will The Government Undermine Encryption?
Of course and we think it's a no brainer, but dictators are still considering backdoor systems to be built in the technologies we've grown to love. These technologies wouldn't be limited to laptops and PCs, smartphones or virtual assistants like Alexa, but the majority of internet connected devices and it's services.
Tanizzle's Opinion
EARN IT isn't about protecting children from online harms and we really hope that people will come to their senses to understand this. Please try to deter such an aggressive #DigitalRegulationsAgenda and fight for your freedoms.
