In an interview with Joe Rogan on January 15th, Robert Downey Jr implied that he did regret wearing the blackface character when asked whether "he could do Tropic Thunder today" - video below.
Robert replied by saying "...I thought yeah I'll do that and I'll do that after Iron Man, and then I started thinking this is a terrible idea, wait a minute, and I thought hold on dude get real here" he continued with "where is your heart, and my heart is A, I get to, I get to be black for a summer in my mind, so there's something in it for me, the other thing is I get to hold up to nature the insane self involved hypocrisy of artists, and what they think their allowed to do on occasion, just my opinion".
In the movie Tropic Thunder, the Iron Man representation Robert Downey Jr played the controversial idea of "blackface" for which he played a "black man" in disguise.
