Kim Kardashian has finally broken her silence on Kanye West's 'painful' bipolar disorder battles, and asks for 'compassion' via Instagram.
Can Kim Kardashian Help Her Husband Kanye West?
UPDATE: Oops! This article was updated to replace all misspellings of the "Jesus Walks" artist's name to "Kanye." We mistakenly spelt his name like "Kayne," if you happened to be wondering.
Kanye West may not be everybody's favourite cup of tea due to his acerbic perspective on slavery, or for supporting the President of the United States, but at least we can agree that he's a human being currently suffering.
The 43-year-old musician and fashion mogul, real name Kanye Omari West, has publicly endured what some have called a "meltdown," but who gets to decide what that is? His wife and reality TV royalty, Kim Kardashian, recently released a statement addressing their challenges - posts below.
The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star and mother of four, released a lengthy Instagram post relating to her husband's manic episodes caused by his bipolar disorder. The condition, for which he has spoken about publicly in the past, "is a mental health condition that affects your moods, which can swing from 1 extreme to another," according to the NHS.
Kanye's behaviour has raised concerns over the recent weeks, and it seems to be worsening ever since he appeared at a campaign rally in South Carolina. Kanye revealed the he and Kim contemplated aborting their daughter North, and announced that his children could "never do Playboy."
What Did Kim Kardashian Say About Kanye West's Bipolar?
"As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder," Kim began. "Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how complicated and painful it is to understand.
"I've never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye's right to privacy when it comes to his health.
"But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health.
"Those that understand mental illness or even compulsive behaviour know that the family is powerless unless the member is a minor."
Thankfully, Kim stressed what we're trying to convey in relation to mental health concerning judgement from the inexperienced, or unaware.
"People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgemental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try."
Refraining from beating around the bush in relation to Kanye's views, Kim said: "I understand Kanye is subject to criticism because he is a public figure and his actions at times can cause strong opinions and emotions.
"He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressures of being an artist and a black man, who experiences the painful loss of his mother, and has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bi-polar disorder.
"Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words sometimes do not align with his intentions."
Acknowledging Kanye's "genius" for pursuing and achieving his goals, Kim said: "Living with bi-polar disorder does not diminish or invalidate his dreams and his creative ideas, no matter how big or unobtainable they may feel to some. That is part of his genius and as we have all witnessed, many of his dreams have come true."
Kim lastly concluded: "We as a society talk about giving grace to the issue of mental health as a whole, however we should also give it to the individuals who are living with in times when they need it the most.
"I kindly ask that the media and public give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this. Thank you for those who have expressed concern for Kanye's well being and for your understanding."
Kim signed off with: "With love and gratitude, Kim Kardashian West."
Can We Be Kind Please?
Like Kanye, but without the idea of fame or celebrity, there are many people who suffer from such conditions, however they don't have audiences as large as the "Yeezy" pioneer. Unfortunately, we know they're suffering, but we can't hear them.
Kanye West needs "help" not trolling, and it's a real shame that some critics don't want to support his healing. Sufferers of mental health needn't be laughed at regardless of their actions. They require understanding, as do the many who are quick to judge.
Is Kim Kardashian a ride or die chick? LOL! So far she has been, and we sincerely hope that the couple can hold onto their marriage, for the sake of their children at least. Give thanks for your well being ladies and gentlemen, and please be kind.
