The Official Afrobeats Chart Issa Vibe
Influenced by the motherland for it's culture, identity, vibes and more, Afrobeats has finally been recognised as the growing force that continues to dominate our playlists, and radio streams.
In what has been described as a "landmark moment" for the music genre, for which we have no doubt, the UK will launch the first chart in a special "The Official UK Afrobeats Show" on BBC Radio 1Xtra on Sunday 26th 2020, from 1pm to 3pm.
The show will feature a range of talents from around the world to celebrate the launch of the Official UK Afrobeats Chart, a significant event for "music of a black origin" (MOBO).

We have no doubt that the recent announcement of the Official UK Afrobeats Chart will create more opportunities for the music genre, and it's artists. Although we understand the origins of the genre, typically from the west of Africa, shout out to the UK movement for their Afroswing/Afro bashment endeavours, as they've definitely constituted to the opening of doors.
It's a satisfaction to understand that some UK artists are releasing music independently without the "big machine", and we sincerely hope that this catches on. For far too long artists have complained about big labels, and it's great to acknowledge more in control of their own material.
In other news, we truly hope that there's an alternative cause, but did Tory Lanez really shoot Megan Thee Stallion? On the topic of afro-inspired music, check out the bombshell from the Balkans, and find out more about Tayna, the Reggaeton artist from Albania.
