UPDATE: US authorities have confirmed that a body has been found at the California lake where Naya Rivera went missing.
"A body has been found at Lake Piru this morning. The recovery is in progress. There will be a news conference at 2 pm at the lake", said the Ventura Country Sheriff in a tweet posted Monday 13 - also below.
The 33-year-old actress Naya Rivera best known for playing the cheerleader Santana Lopez in the hit musical-comedy "Glee", has been reported missing after her four-year-old son was found alone in a boat, on a lake in Southern California.
According to official reports, the actress rented the boat on Wednesday afternoon at Lake Piru, located in the north-west of Los Angeles. The Ventura County Sheriff's office suspended the search and rescue operation overnight, and said it "will continue at first light".
What Do We Know About Naya Rivera?
According to CBS Los Angeles reports, Rivera's son was spotted by alternative boaters approximately three hours after the actress had rented the boat. Sources quoting the sheriff's office stated that the boy informed investigators that he and his mother - Naya - were swimming, however she never got back into the boat.
The sheriff's department closed off the lake to allow professional dive teams from across the region to conduct their business - video below.
Multiple celebrities including Demi Lovato and her "Glee" co-star Heather Morris have called for prayers. Heather Morris wrote in her Instagram story: "We need all the prayers we can get to bring our Naya back home to us. We need your love and light."
Her very last social media posts entailed a picture of herself and her child with a caption "just the two of us". The picture - below - shows her kissing her son Josey Hollis Dorsey, the child she shares with her ex-husband and actor Ryan Dorsey.
Our sincere prayers are with the family and friends of Naya Rivera. Not only was she one the most familiar and best characters we admired of "Glee", she was also a proud and loving mother. For us, it really hurts to contemplate her fate considering her poor boy was last to see her.
We can't help but to think about her son, and what may have happened when he realised that he was alone. Did he call for her, did he cry?
Going through her Instagram pictures gave us chills alone. We're not suggesting a more sinister motive as to why this may have happened, but there's something eerie about certain posts. In the Instagram post below, Naya wrote: "gravity keeps pulling me under, but the urge to breathe helps me stay afloat."
The video shows Naya Rivera in a bath surrounded by water, whilst Charlotte Day Wilson's "Work" sets the mood. The song "Work", according to it's YouTube description "is a slow moving offering, awash with soulful, gospel tinged harmonies, organ strains, and a comforting bass line which is perfect for a chilled Sunday afternoon."
