WOW, talk about surprises! Tekashi 69 (6ix9ine) and the "Queen of Rap" Nicki Minaj are due to release a new collaborative song titled "Trollz", on Friday 12th June.
Initially, rumours began to circulate online that 6ix9ine's forthcoming single was to feature the "Yikes" rapper Nicki Minaj. Images began to circulate on social media depicting brightly coloured merchandise related to the pair.
Proceeds To The Bail Project Inc.
Nicki Minaj announced in an Instagram post that "a portion of the proceeds from #Trollz including merch items, will be going directly to The Bail Project Inc." The organisation, The Bail Project Inc, provides free monetary assistance to individuals predominantly from low-income households, who can't afford the legal fees.
Their support for the fund comes after George Floyd, an unarmed African-American man, was killed by Minnesota Police. The disgraced officer Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck for approximately 9 minutes, as he continuously yelled "I can't breathe".
"A portion of the proceeds from #Trollz including merch items, will be going directly to The Bail Project Inc", she began.
"The fund provides free bail assistance to low-income individuals who can't afford to pay bail while awaiting their trial. We want to protect and support the thousands of brave people working on the front lines of social justice, using their voices to demand AN END to the targeting and killing of Black Americans by the police.
"#BlackLivesMatter link in bio to Pre-save #TrollzVIDEO tmrw @ midnight 🎀🦄🌈🌈🌈🌈🦄🎀 NickiMinajQueen.com", Nicki Minaj concluded.
A collaboration between the pair isn't the first as they worked together on "FEFE" in 2018. 6ix9ine has been teasing new material via Instagram for days now, but the artist standing in solidarity with the circumstance of George Floyd and Black Lives Matter (BLM), rightfully re-scheduled music.
"Trollz" accompanied with a video to be released at midnight, will be the second single released by 6ix9ine after the rapper unleashed "Gooba". The "Lonely" and "Locked Up" rapper Akon was recently criticised for working with 6ix9ine, after 6ix9ine eagerly testified against his former associates, Nine Trey Gangster Bloods.
In Other News: The mysterious graffiti artist Banksy recently shared new artwork in support of #BlackLivesMatter, and the WWE legend Dwanye "The Rock" Johnson had some strong words for President Trump for his lack of leadership.
In light of the murder of George Lloyd, and countless other victims in the hands of the police, we applaud their generosity. Protests have spawned all over the world in disgust of the institutional racism people of colour face daily, and change seems to be now more than ever. The very idea of "change" will only suffice if those in the highest seats of power listen "wholeheartedly" to it's citizens protesting, and not disparage, or undermine them - #BlackLivesMatter.
