The hit show entailing thirsty individuals seeking love has been officially cancelled due to COVID-19 (coronavirus) fears, official sources for the show have revealed.
Is Love Island 2020 cancelled?
After desperate attempts to establish a solution for filming Love Island series 7, ITV2 bosses have pulled the plug on the hit show, confirming the news on the official Love Island Instagram account - post below.
Unsurprisingly, the decision for the cancellation relates to the unfortunate COVID-19 pandemic making everyday norms unachievable due to social distancing measures.
In the captioned post below, officials announced: ITV2 are sad to announce that Love Island series 7 will move to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. "We have tried every which way to make Love Island this summer but logistically it's just not possible to produce it in a way that safeguards the wellbeing of everyone involved and that for us is the priority."
Further information was given by the Director of Television at ITV who said: "In normal circumstances we would be preparing very soon to travel out to the location in Mallorca to get the villa ready but clearly that's now out of the question.
"We are very sorry for fans of the show but making it safely is our prime concern and Love Island will be back stronger than ever in 2021. In the meantime Love Island fans can still enjoy all six series of Love Island on BritBox. #LoveIsland", Kevin Lygo explained.

We respect the decision of the executives sincerely as it's better to be safe than sorry, and we genuinely wish that coronavirus could be cancelled "effectively" as this did - #StayAtHome.
