To haters, Kanye West's latest 'Vultures' track raises eyebrows considering his nonchalant past, but an Australian dancer remembers the Yeezy genius as a 'Good Dude'.
Kanye West: Ye Is Winning, Change Our Minds!
We've been highly anticipating his music comeback, and thankfully, Kanye West, now known as Ye, 46, premiered his latest track, "Vultures," on WPWX Power 92 Chicago. The song, featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Durk, and Bump J, has sparked unnecessary controversy due to Ye's lyrics, reigniting discussions about his past controversial statements especially concerning Jewish people and Hitler.
Just after the halfway mark of the song, Ye raps, "How I'm antisemitic, I just fucked a Jewish bitch." Of course, any statement of such is bound to piss off critics or anyone wanting the Yeezy innovator to fail, and unsurprisingly, it did, raising eyebrows. It comes after an antisemitic controversy in late 2022, and at the time of reporting, the song hasn't officially been released on streaming platforms.
Antisemitism, But Where?
This recent drama follows a history of opinionative remarks by Ye. Rolling Stone reported last year that sources disclosed West's admiration for Hitler during the making of "The College Dropout." Allegedly, he attempted to use propaganda strategies inspired by the Nazis to boost his own fame. Sources within West's inner circle claimed that his admiration for Hitler and positive references to Nazi Germany were well-known but kept secret for nearly two decades.
In October 2022, West further fueled the fire by showcasing his Yeezy line at a YZY SZN 9 presentation in Paris, donning a "White Lives Matter" shirt alongside Candace Owens. He later made antisemitic remarks and expressed admiration for Nazis and Hitler during a three-hour interview on Alex Jones' show in early December.
Kanye West Saves Dancer From Sexual Abuse
Despite these controversies, a recent video circulating on social media features an Australian woman who once served as a background dancer for Ye. In the clip, she recounts a personal experience where West intervened to protect her from harassment during a performance in 2011.
According to the dancer, after a show in Australia, she and other dancers joined West and his crew at an after-party. Some members of West's entourage began pressuring her to dance and twerk, making her feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Kanye West, noticing the situation, intervened, telling them to back off and ensuring her safety.
The dancer expressed her gratitude, saying, "Of all the things that I see about him, at the crux of it all, I think he's a good dude. Maybe he does some crazy shit, but I will always have a soft spot for you, Ye."
This personal account adds a nuanced perspective to the ongoing discussions surrounding Ye, highlighting both his controversial public statements and instances where he's been perceived as a positive influence. As "Vultures" continues to stir controversy, to some, it remains to be seen how Ye's latest track will impact his public image even if we doubt it will cause nothing negative.
Long live Ye!
