After what was deemed a 'lengthy case', the 'Jackpot' rapper, Latto, denies being involved in a year-long gun safety program, after she learned of rumoured statements online.
Who Is Lying, Latto, Blavity, or TMZ?
One thing we can definitely agree on is that Latto, 24, was arrested at LAX for carrying a concealed weapon and a loaded firearm in May, 2021. After reports began spreading online suggesting that she entered a year-long diversion program in April, 2022, the star took to Twitter to counter the claim insisting she wasn't "in no damn program".
"Idk who put out that false ass information cause I'm not in no damn program... also the situation happened over a year ago & y'all never even knew until I mentioned it in the Boom pt 2 verse. Nun to 'brag' about. Leave me alone," she said in a post. The allegations were initially published by Blavity in addition to TMZ who added fuel to the fire.
What Happened To Ignite Speculation?
After the "Bitch From Da Souf" artist, whose real name is Alyssa Michelle Stephens, featured in a hip-hop track by Mello Buckzz, fans questioned the meaning of her lyrics involving an arrest. "I got locked up in the airport, goddamn forgot the gun," she could be heard saying in "Boom Pt. 2".
Sometime later (on Twitter), Latto shared a story about her arrest including a Glock 17 in a Birkin bag. "Went to LAX w a loaded glock 17 in my Birk got locked & let out in a few hours lmaooo booked a $75k jet to my show in Alabama & still made it on time! no cap in my rap TUH," she said in the post.
"The program required Latto to complete a gun safety course, perform 120 hours of community service and avoid all firearms," TMZ reports law enforcement told them. Meanwhile, haters believe that Big Latto (her alias) is lying and exaggerating the incident for clout in order to look tough. "You saying this like it makes you tuff girl hush," one Twitter user said.
