International Women's Day wasn't so pleasant for Latin Pop Queen, Anitta, who now wants out of her contract with Warner Music after a lack of promotion.
#WarnerFreeAnitta: Anitta Wants Out of Warner Music
If only she was happy with her recording contract, the Brazilian superstar and "Mais Uma" singer, Anitta, would have posted a "cute post" to celebrate International Women's Day. Instead of posting anything "cute", Anitta chose to vent her frustrations on social media over a lack of promotion and respect; and wants to be relieved.
The 29-year-old beauty, who shot to fame with her debut professional single "Meiga e Abusada" in 2012 before signing with Warner Music Brazil (in January 2013), took to Instagram to share how the label isn't committing to her as she would like as an artist, insisting: "we gotta keep on asking for things you are supposed to naturally do," like promo.
#WarnerRespectAnitta: Anitta's Instagram Stories
In a series of Instagram Stories titled "Be fair Warner", Anitta (real name Larissa de Macedo Machado) first shared a post apparently made by Warner Music Latina depicting the "Me Gusta" artist dressed in a sexy metallic outfit; with "Envolver" (2022), a track by Anitta, included as the story's background music.
What's the problem... seems fine? Definitely not, because Anitta revealed that someone at Warner once criticised her song (concerning its success) saying, "it would never break without a feat cuz I wasn't strong enough for that," implying the track didn't have potential - "Envolver" currently has 496,480,828 listens on Spotify.
Anitta, who's first language isn't English but Portuguese, said: "On this women's day, instead of a cute post I would love to have the CEO doing what he promised me a month ago, after I asked how much is it to finish the contract and he said THAT WOULDN'T HAPPEN". She then explained that she was directed to lawyers for talks about money when she'd prefer them to "just do the simple job they were supposed to: PROMOTE MY MUSIC".
Anitta Understands Her Mistakes
"For all the young artists starting now. Watch out for EVERYTHING you sign," Anitta said regarding her signing to Warner Music Brazil, in which, she explained she was "so young and naive" to understand the recording contract's terms "more than 10 years ago"; perhaps due to excitement.
"It doesn't matter how small you are, you will grow, and see yourself stuck," she added, suggesting artists are bound by contractual agreements that aren't often easy to escape from; made worse when an artist becomes successful, and contract terms benefit the label more than artist. We feel for her.
Dear Warner, #FreeAnitta or make a new deal with her.
