Standing out would be an understatement when relating to Ice Spice, the baddie from The Bronx emphasising 'Munch' whilst making a significant impact in (NY) Drill music.
Who Is Ice Spice?
Her real name is Isis Gaston, but she's professionally known as Ice Spice, the 23-year-old lyricist born and raised in The Bronx, New York, on January 1st 2000. The baddie, who has Dominican and African-American heritage (possibly Nigerian), is quickly becoming a Tanizzle obsession, and fans wouldn't need to question why since her rise.
Often seen sporting a striking-red, curly-hairstyle (afro), Ice Spice started rapping in 2021 whilst attending SUNY Purchase (also known as State University of New York at Purchase), and shot to fame with the release of "Munch (Feelin' U)", a track notable for highlighting (male) sexual tendencies uncommonly heard from a female perspective.
Unreserved from dishing bedroom antics, Ice Spice expresses her disgust toward a disloyal man (in "Munch"), saying: "You thought I was feelin' you? / That n*gga a munch / N*gga a eater, he ate it for lunch / B*tch, I'm a baddie, I get what I want." The song reached #35 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and #5 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles.
Ice Spice's major success' were heavily inspired and produced by RIOTUSA, a talent alternatively known as Riot; a record producer and recording artist (rapper) responsible for "In Ha Hood", "Princess Diana", and "Bikini Bottom", as well as BIGBABYGUCCI'S, "16FEVER", and "Loverboy" by Baby Storme to name a few.
Rap's New Princess or Drill's New Queen?
Whether she's considered "rap's new princess", according to Jon Caramanica of The New York Times, or "drill's new queen" (or the Queen of Drill) by the internet, Ice Spice is inevitably a hip-hop rapper set to explore with new sounds as she mentions in an interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music - see the video somewhere below.
The Bronx native, recently dropped her first official EP, "Like..?", a six-track project released via 10K Projects/Capital Records. Speaking on it's lone feature artist, Lil Tjay, Ice Spice explained why the "Mood Swings" artist happened to be, stressing a "real genuine collab" stemming from friendship and their connection to The Bronx.
During the interview, "Gangsta Boo" (ft. Lil Tjay) came into question after coincidences concerning the death of Lola Chantrelle Mitchell, AKA Gangsta Boo, who sadly died from a possible overdose on Ice Spice's 23rd birthday (January 1st, 2023). The song was purely "coincidental" and written before her passing, however, she shared her condolences for the 2nd female rapper to call Three6Mafia home.
Speaking on the meaning of "Gangsta Boo" (the track), Ice Spice said, "I've never been with a gangsta," after being asked what type of person she's attracted to adding she likes "good boys and girls"... before Ebro made references to the typical simp, or succumbing individual who could easily be controlled, whipped, or leashed to her desire, LMAO!
Who Is Ice Spice Dating? Is She In A Relationship?
From our understanding, Ice Spice is not currently in a relationship. Fueling the fire, as usual, the internet began to speculate the possibility of the "Munch" rapper dating Lil Tjay after he gifted her with an expensive gift. The gift, delivered around Valentines' Day, was a $150,000 Richard Mille watch supplied by Benny the Jeweler.
The six-figure timepiece, an RM-05 Rose Gold with a white band, was allegedly ready for collection on January 14th; causing further speculation of the pair being romantically linked. Lil Tjay, who was once associated with influencer and model, Lala Baptiste, bought the bling as "something sentimental to celebrate their 'Gangsta Boo' collaboration charting on the Billboard Hot 100," according to TMZ.
Other than that, there's a chance that Ice Spice's next partner is considered a "munch" but would you be surprised? LMAO, shout out to Ice Spice, and all the "munchers".
