In addition to being a mouth-watering baddie we love to document, Cinnamon Babe's Stormi Maya is an astounding difference in music asserting Rock and Roll's origins in black music.
Cinnamon Babe, Cinnamon Baddie!
On God, we've been fascinated with Stormi Maya, 27, even before she became the face of "the most controversial thing to ever enter metal", Cinnamon Babe. The multi-talented baddie, musician, actress, and social media influencer has cemented her unique presence in heavy-metal (Nu-Metal/Punk) music, and we can't be more proud.
Additionally known for her mesmerising appearance commonly featuring an afro-hairstyle (that we honestly love to see), including a tormenting physique with tantalising assets, Stormi Maya has it all however, her pursuit of happiness came with a price sadly involving discrimination for being a thriving, confident, black metal artist.
Unsurprisingly, queue the haters and bring on controversy! With a music title like "Rock 'N' Roll Is Black", it's no surprise to learn that Cinnamon Babe went viral on social media for the wrong, and right reasons. The band were met with scrutiny from audiences offended by the title's suggestion, and it didn't end in the post's comments filled with discontent.
Maya was banned from TikTok (and later restored 3-weeks later) for violating community standards; a contradiction to us considering the facts behind the genre originating "from African-American music such as jazz, rhythm and blues, boogie woogie, gospel, as well as country music, bluegrass, and traditional pop," according to Wikipedia (and everyone else with a brain, LMAO, no offence!).
Cinnamon Babe: Rock 'N' Roll Is Black (Video)
Who is Cinnamon Babe? Inspired by rebellious acts like Rage Against The Machine and Linkin Park, Cinnamon Babe emerged as an LA-based outfit prepared to change the narrative pertaining metal music (especially involving people of colour), by challenging modern conceptions with introspective lyrics mixed with the lead singer, Stormi Maya's captivating style and attitude.
Although it may seem all glory on the outside with the band's viral success from "Rock and Roll Is Black", Maya, who hails from the Bronx, New York, "has come a long way to make this dream a reality", a reality endured whilst living with mental health struggles in form of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) causing "some of the worst mental pain" of her life (her biography disclosed).
The beauty, who was raised listening to The Cranberries, an Irish collective best known for their (1995) debut album "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?", shared her obstructions regarding "intrusive thoughts, but without any external signs of compulsions", for the release of "Pure O", the band's debut (2022) single, stressing: "Pure O' is extremely personal to me.
"The name of the song comes from the shorthand term for 'purely obsessional'. It's a term used to describe a type of OCD where people experience intrusive thoughts, but without any external signs of compulsions. I've had Pure O my entire life – it started when I was 6 years old," she added.
Continuing: "I would have thoughts that I couldn't explain and I experienced severe distress from it. I only recently found out what my condition was called. (OCD) has caused me some of the worst mental pain of my life. I wrote this song while I was having an episode."
Irrespective of her demons, the "Loose" artist who began enjoying heavy metal music in middle-school (even whilst being intimidated to perform the sound), hasn't allowed her experiences to dampen her prosperities and thankfully speaks (and relieves) self-examining truths via Cinnamon Babe.
Stormi Maya: Still A Bombshell Serving!
Let's not beat around the bush and pretend that Stormi Maya (also known as Stormi Maya Jellison) isn't alluring. In March (of 2022), the beauty was crowned the Penthouse Pet of the Month and appeared on the front cover of the men's magazine that has been "Leading Provocative Culture Since 1965", to our excitement.
Standing at a height of 5'3, the Boston-born baddie with bust measurements of 34DD-24-30, has been under our watchful eye (especially Tanizzle BAE's eyes) whilst flaunting her gorgeous characteristics on social media. When she's not displaying her God-given blessings with seductive persuasion on socials, Maya could be showcasing her acting skills, as well as film production.
With co-stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, and Lili Reinhart, it's evidently clear to acknowledge that Maya isn't fooling around with her acting career after being casted in the 2019 American crime comedy-drama, "Hustlers" (as Angel). In addition, the singer, who once preferred creating hip-hop music before pursuing her dreams with heavy-metal, was seen in Netflix's "She's Gotta Have It" (directed by Spike Lee), portraying Yennifer Clemente.
What about filmmaking? With extensive experience in theatre before transitioning to film and television, it's no surprise that Stormi Maya has a taste for creating independent projects including films. Maya's writer and director credits include Javelle, Shark, Cattle: The Cult, and Cycle: Maria's Story - see her IMDb for more.
Tanizzle's Humble Opinion!
On that note, Stormi Maya (and Cinnamon Babe) "rock" irrespective of what naysayers think. From what we've learned, Maya responded with the obvious (Rock 'N Roll is Black) after being targeted for being herself, or at the least, creating what she admires the most (metal).
Then there's the losers who think she's making music not suited for a black audience. Firstly, does Maya owe you anything? As much as we want to say f*ck your feelings, we won't (and did somehow!), please attempt to realise that you're potentially limiting your experiences (and creativity) by discriminating others who choose to dare outside of your isolated comfort zones.
FYI, Tanizzle was founded by Drill Manga, a black entrepreneur, tech-nerd, and musician. Say something!
