Despite being a hit on Billboard's Hot Rap Songs chart, Nicki Minaj's 'Super Freaky Girl' isn't considered rap at the Grammys; a reason that likely triggered a feud with Big Latto.
Is Nicki Minaj A Bully? Latto Thinks So!
It's all claws-out with female rappers Nicki Minaj and Latto, who began feuding yesterday (October 13th) over alleged sneak-dissing experienced by the "B*tch From da Souf" artist (formerly known as Mulatto); who labelled the "Do We Have A Problem?" lyricist as a "bully" after ignoring "countless subtweets since March" of this year.
Along with the hashtag #40yroldbully, the 23-year-old baddie who's AKA Big Latto (in addition to Alyssa Michelle Stephens), shared her discontent for Minaj (Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty), 39, in a Twitter post entailing "the most recent subtweet in question," with a screenshot of a now deleted post (after 19-mins of sharing) allegedly shared by Minaj.
"Unfollowed. Ugh barbz I just said stop putting that dud on my timeline. I know ur defending me but leave the dud on tiktok. Lemme think #DUDSponDiTimelineBarbz," the post read. Meanwhile, Latto considers Minaj her "idol turned rival" and called her a "super freaky grandma" related to "f*cking rapists".
In midst of this, other well known female rappers including Asian Doll, and Ivorian Doll (IVD) were dragged into the discussion after the "EVERYTHING WHAT" rapper (Asian Doll) took a swipe at the "Coco x Kiki" beauty who was seemingly supporting Minaj - there's more on Asian Doll's responses to Ivorian Doll further below.
What Did Nicki Minaj Do To Upset Latto?
If what we've gathered has any substance, Nicki Minaj upset Latto with tweets deemed indirect however, tensions may stem deeper considering Minaj's "Super Freaky Girl" was reportedly rejected as rap at the 2023 Grammy Awards after the Recording Academy's rap committee believed the track aligned with pop - triggering Minaj and her beloved Barbz.
Causing further rifts, based on speculation and rumour, Latto's "Big Energy", which samples Mariah Carey's 1995 hit, "Fantasy", was submitted for consideration in at least one Grammy rap category. Sharing her dissatisfaction online, Minaj shared in a Twitter post: "I have no prob being moved out the RAP category as long as we r ALL being treated FAIRLY.
"If SFG has 2B moved out RAP then so does Big Energy! ANY1 who says diff is simply a Nicki hater or a troll. I'd actually LUV 2 c a more street record win- male OR female! IJS rightIsRight," she concluded with. Irrespective of contrast, Latto once agreed with Minaj that if "Super Freaky Girl" is housed under pop, the Grammys should do the same with her hit.
The beef continued...
Nicki Minaj then quoted a post tweeted by a fan who shared a screenshot of Latto calling "Big Energy" a pop song. The fan included a clip of Latto performing (rapping) that she's in her "pop bag." Minaj captioned the retweet with "Yikes", prompting a response from Latto who clapped-back with a tweet of her own.
"Damn I can't win for losing... all these awards/noms I can't even celebrate," she said.
Beefing In The DMs, In 4K!
With the sharing of screenshots (seen below), the rappers attempted to squash issues between themselves within Instagram DMs (direct messages). But to no avail, and becoming the business of public interest, Minaj posted an image of an alleged conversation sent to her by Latto, in which, the "Anaconda" artist called her a "Karen" and "Scratch Off".
In a now deleted post, Nicki Minaj said: "This Karen has probably mentioned my name in over 100 interviews. Says she waited in line for Pink Friday w|her Barbie chain on, bangs, pink hair... but today, scratch off decides to be silent; rather than speak up for the black woman she called her biggest inspiration".
With enough material to use against her once "idol", Latto convinced her audience that Minaj's tweet was about her, and quoted it: "1st of all I texted u cause I didn't wanna do the internet sht w sum1 I looked up to. Just like the 1st time I DMed u asking about ur ongoing subtweets."
Adding: "I wanted to speak up cuz like I said I do agree but the way u going about it seems malicious esp. after how we left off".
Who Is The Queen of Drill, Asian Doll or Ivorian Doll?
Is the Queen of Drill Asian Doll or Ivorian Doll? Let's not beat around the bush, we've been calling Ivorian Doll, 24, the Queen of Drill for a long-time; considering we know more about IVD than her 25-year-old counterpart, also known as Asian Da Brat. In addition, Tanizzle is British and is fond of the UK Drill sound; a sound somewhat distinguishable from US Drill.
In the midst of Nicki Minaj and Latto feuding, Ivorian Doll, who's a big fan of Minaj (and doesn't refrain from showing it), shared a tweet (perhaps concerning Nicki Minaj) saying: "But why do they always do something shady when it's in relation to her". This was followed by an unverified quote tweet (screenshot by a user) from Asian Doll who supposedly said: "1st off b*tch mind yo business".
Although we couldn't verify the last response, we did get lucky with a post-and-delete shared by Asian Doll who missed deleting it before we took a screenshot. The inked baddie from Dallas, who was the first female artist signed to Gucci Mane's 1017 Eskimo Records, shared an indirect tweet concerning "b*tches" that "can't mind they business", and hinted that they're internationally based.
"Why b*tches can't mind they business. If you not from AMERICA why you worried bout wtf we doing over here b*tch ain't it daytime over there," she said before disposing of it, leaving us to question why.
