For us, the love for house music is nothing new, but when it's revived by some of the world's most talented artists such as Drake, and Beyoncé, it hits home a little more differently.
It's Summer Vibes With Drake And Beyoncé!
After literally absorbing the blessings heard in HONESTLY, NEVERMIND, the seventh studio album released by the Canadian GOAT, Drake, 35, Houston's very own Queen B, Beyoncé, 40, shattered remaining parts of the internet (after Drake broke it unexpectedly earlier) with the release of "Break My Soul".
Succumbing to the beautiful themes of 90s inspired house music with its distinguishable four-on-the-floor rhythmic characteristics, Beyoncé helps revive a genre often designed to "release yourself" or "let yourself go"; shared perfectly in time for a British summer, in which, is currently scorching with heat.
A New Chapter For House Music
The Single Ladies phenomenon, who recently announced her forthcoming project, Renaissance (commonly written as Act I: Renaissance), adds significant weight to the uplifting genre made popular in Chicago between 1977 and 1983, with the Godfather of House, DJ Frankie Knuckles, spinning tracks for predominantly people of colour.
Renaissance, Beyoncé's seventh solo album, is titled with the idea of "renewing interest in something" or "reviving intrigue" (at the least), indicating a new era of something understood, but with the vocal brilliance performed by Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, who's "on that new vibration" of energy clearly heard on The-Dream produced anthem.
What's the Korg M1 organ preset called, used in Beyoncé's in Break My Soul? Break My Soul, which comes after the Partition singer's last single, Black Parade, incorporates Korg's famous M1 pre-set, the Organ 2, a sound closely associated with house classics like Show Me Love, by Robin S, a track that inevitably helped the genre become mainstream; coincidentally written by Allen George and Fred McFarlane, writers credited on Beyoncé's latest offering.
Who wrote Break My Soul? In addition to the house OGs Allen George and Fred McFarlene, Beyoncé's husband, JAY-Z has song writing credits on Break My Soul as well as, The-Dream (Terius Youngdell Nash), Tricky Stewart (Christopher Alan Stewart), Freddie Ross, and BlaqNmilD.
Long live house, and long live the Queen B (Beyoncé). Listen to Break My Soul in the official lyric below or watch it on YouTube.
