The iconic entrepreneur, author, YouTuber, and founder of SBTV Online, Jamal Edwards MBE, has unfortunately passed away at the age of 31, due to explained circumstances.
Rest In Peace Jamal Edwards
By now, we're far too familiar with the saying, "life is too short", and here we are, unfortunately, paying tribute to an inspiration, a visionary with great sight, and significant pioneer of urban music, Jamal Edwards MBE, who has died at the age of 31.
The Luton born businessman, who was appointed an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for his imaginative perception to music in 2014, was the son of "Loose Women" star, Brenda Edwards, 52; who influenced his success after gifting her boy with a video camera at 15.
We've Lost A Legend Today: Jamal Edwards
Tributes have flooded social media from fans and companies who expressed their condolences to the founder of the online urban platform, SB.TV, including from his mother's "Loose Women" co-star, Denise Welch, "Queens Speech" rapper, Lady Leshurr, and YouTube.
"We've lost a legend today," YouTube said via Twitter. Continuing: "Jamal Edwards was an inspiration to so many, supporting artists and shaping culture through @SBTVonline. Sending our condolences to Jamal's family & community ❤️"
Lady Leshurr: #KeepJamalEdwardsNameAlive
Lady Leshurr, who has praised Edwards for helping to launch her career said the news of his passing was "so heartbreaking", saying: "I'm in tears. So heartbreaking to hear the news of Jamal Edwards 💔💔💔 prayers to his family and loved ones nothing makes sense anymore 😞🙏🏾 @SBTVonline".
In addition to her prior tweet, the "Likkle Darling" artist added: "This man helped so many artists to become who they are today including myself. He gave me opportunity after opportunity to showcase my talent from Brum into London. We need to keep his name and brand alive. This is painful the good always go too soon 💔 @SBTVonline".
Rest In Peace King: You Paved The Way
From the entire Tanizzle Family, we are deeply saddened with shock to learn of the death of Jamal Edwards. Our thoughts will continue to be with all that knew him and loved him, as welll as the many he inspired including ourselves.
Jamal Edwards wasn't just a visionary: he inspired us by paving the way for producing and sharing content once "shunned upon", giving ordinary kids from the block a chance to shine as mainstream turned the other way - such entities later learned from his passion, thus understanding us.
Rest In Peace Jamal Edwards, 24 August 1990 – 20 February 2022.
