The 'Masked Singer' host, Nick Cannon, and his model girlfriend, Alyssa Scott, have unfortunately announced the death of their 5-month-old son, Zen, due to cancer.
Rest In Peace Baby Zen
The creator of "Wild N Out", Nick Cannon, 41, has shared the heartbreaking news that his 5-month-old son, Zen, has died after enduring a cancerous tumour in his brain.
Baby Zen, for whom he welcomed into the world with his model girlfriend, Alyssa Scott, in June, explained their loss during a recording of his self-named, "The Nick Cannon Show".
Heartbreaking: A Message From Nick (Video)
Tearfully mourning his unimaginable loss, the TV personality and musician said on Tuesday (7th December) that his son was battling with Hydrocephalus. According to the NHS: "Hydrocephalus is a build-up of fluid in the brain. The excess fluid puts pressure on the brain, which can damage it. If left untreated, hydrocephalus can be fatal."
"I always noticed he had a cough and so I wanted to check it out," Cannon said. "He had this interesting breathing and by the time he was two months I noticed he had this nice sized head too -- a Cannon head." He continued: "We didn't think anything of it. But I wanted to take him to the doctor for his sinus and breathing. We thought it would be routine."
Before things quickly turned for the worse at Thanksgiving, the family sadly discovered that it wasn't a routine visit at the hospital. Baby Zen had fluid building in his head due to a malignant tumour; later resulting in surgery to drain the fluid, by the way of a shunt.
In the episode he described as a "special show dedicated to my beautiful son, Zen," Cannon explained his valid efforts to embrace his boy by visiting the ocean, where he held his son for the last time. Attempting to hold back tears, Cannon said: "The tumour began to grow a lot faster.
"This weekend, I made a valid effort to spend the most quality time I could spend with Zen. And we woke up on Sunday, and I was like, I just want to go to the water and close to the ocean."
