The Ultimate Fighting Championship star Conor McGregor praised President Donald Trump on Twitter by calling him a 'phenomenal president', accompanied with a 'goat' image.
Phenomenal President
The former two-weight world champion Conor McGregor had a lot to say on twitter about President Donald Trump, as he celebrated the three-year anniversary of his inauguration on Monday.
The tweet was in response to Trump highlighting the fact that, it had been three years since he entered office on Martin Luther King Jr Day; unemployment levels - see tweet, and responses below.
Trump's Tweet
The president's tweet was in reference to unemployment levels being at a record low, for which the U.S Labor Department confirmed the reports on Black and Hispanic people in October last year.
The tweet said "It was exactly three years ago today, January 20, 2017, that I was sworn into office,' Trump wrote on Monday. 'So appropriate that today is also MLK jr DAY. African-American Unemployment is the LOWEST in the history of our Country, by far. Also, best Poverty, Youth, and Employment numbers, ever. Great!'".
Conor who also was in a celebratory mood after defeating Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds at UFC 246 on Saturday night, achieved his first victory in mixed martial arts since 2016. Tweeting in response to Trump, Conor said "Phenomenal President. Quite possibly the USA. Most certainly one of them anyway, as he sits atop the shoulders of many amazing giants that came before him. No easy feet. Early stages of term also. Incredible. Congrats and Happy Martin Luther King Jr. day America'".
To no surprise the tweet clearly divided users like the artist Bryan Greenberg who replied with "Please tell me you got fookin hacked", and "I knew there was a reason I have a distaste for @TheNotoriousMMA and here’s my reason" from another.
The 45th president of the United States appreciated the reply, and responded on Tuesday by congratulating the fighter for his recent win saying "Congratulations on your big @UFC WIN!". This was clearly the contrary to tweets like "These are the words of a man who has been hit in the head many, many, many times" from a twitter user, although he did receive praise from some "Wow literally the first athlete/celebrity that had the guts to praise Trump! Thank you!".
