We explored 'Yes-Man', a hard-hitting short film directed by Daniel Glenn-Barbour for 4 Deuce Films, which showcases the reality of peer pressure, false idols, dreams, and hopes.
Yes-Man: 4 Deuce Films Nails It!
In this day and age, with its victims (the majority) hardly reaching the era of adolescence, we're unfortunately far too familiar with the street violence that permeates neighbourhoods as lives are abruptly cut short due to savagery.
Irrespective of whether gang members "choose" to join their desired movements or not, there are many (civilians) caught in the crosshairs of an endless tit-for-tat, causing unwarranted detriment for the surviving; who are sadly left with the broken pieces.
In a gripping film drama titled "Yes-Man" (see it below or on YouTube), written and directed by Daniel Glenn-Barbour, its story follows an indecisive young man who clearly possesses the trait of "passivity", as he often aimed to please others in order to fit into a meaningless circle.
It's the perfect example of how individuals are led into an unforeseeable world of criminality, that carries a lot of weight, especially when the enthusiastic begin to climb ranks.
What Is Yes-Man About?
With the very idea of "peer pressure" and "idolism" being a significant constituent of crime, "Yes-Man" perfectly depicts what many young people face today as they choose to be recognised for their hustle, for which in most cases, is accompanied by the lack of compassion for others consequently causing harm.
With it's lead character, Darrell (Kieton Saunders-Browne), adamant to "level up" into a hierachy that's usually met with respect and admiration among the unruly and impressionable (typically young), his awkward journey to make a name for himself is met with an array of obstacles not easily comprehensible to the average Joe.
Caught between a well intended family who want the best of their children, and peers who have nothing better to do than live dishonest lives, Darrell's choices to become a respected figure continuously takes a turn for the worst as he progresses his agenda.

"Once a yes man, always a yes man." With that in mind, Darrell's experiences (on his quest to "level up") are due to be short-lived, as he'll later find out as he endeavours to become bigger than he needs to be - we don't blame him, especially with years of abuse and social pressures.
Why did we say, "later find out?" Well, the "Yes-Man" release is a short film, however, 4 Deuce Films, the production company behind the eye-opener have promised a feature film in the near future, and no cap, we really can't wait considering we've read their press pack which surprised us with too much spoilers!
Shot in 4K using a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K camera, Glenn-Barbour's direction in conjunction Bae Israel (co-director), as well as Angelika Napierala (producer), elucidates the issues some people are accustomed to; the same issues critics are quick to judge without knowing what leads to them.
It's a must watch. Enjoy!
