Manchester Arena Attack
Eminem has faced an immediate backlash for his lyrics on "Unaccommodating" from his new album Music To Be Murdered By. Criticised for the lyrics "I'm contemplating yelling 'bombs away' on the game / Like I'm outside of an Ariana Grande concert waiting.", it's not the first time the rap legend has referenced the attack saying "seeing Ariana Grande sing her last song of the evening / And as the audience from the damn concert is leaving / Detonates the device strapped to his abdominal region." in a 2018 freestyle.
Critics have called him "vile", and "disgusting" regardless of his past pledge to support the victims of the bombing in 2017 for which he urged fans to donate to the families affected. Eminem's positive attempt to raise awareness about gun control hasn't gone unnoticed.
A message includes "WHEN WILL THIS END? WHEN ENOUGH PEOPLE CARE. Please contact or visit the following organisations to find out how you can help or learn more about putting an end to senseless gun violence, or to help survivors and their families." with various links to anti-gun violence organisations including Giffords Law Center, Everytown For Gun Safety, and Sandy Hook Promise.
