The first lady of Young Money, Nicki Minaj, re-releases the mixtape 'Beam Me Up Scotty' with three new songs - speaks on her torment after losing her father.
Nicki Minaj Releases New Music: Beam Me Up Scotty
There's no doubt that we've been missing music from the 38-year-old Queen of Rap, Nicki Minaj, who to the delight of fans released her 2008 mixtape, "Beam Me Up Scotty", to streaming services.
Although there seemed to be a little bit of disappointment from Barbz who anticipated an array of new music, the "Anaconda" rapper included three new bops including, "Crocodile Tears" (remix) with Skillibeng, "Seeing Green" featuring Drake and Lil Wayne, and "Fractions".
Enduring heavy promotional efforts (from the 10th May), Minaj broke her four-month hiatus from social media by unexpectedly teasing our senses with dashing images that entailed the covering her "modesty" with heart shaped pillows, and a pair of custom pink Crocs.
In an alternative post, the "Tusa" rapper was seen flexing in a black Rolls-Royce Cullinan whilst rocking a stunning pink watch, by the luxury Swiss watch company, Richard Mille.
"First thing I'ma do when I pop out / Is tell my nigga, Yo, make sure you got the Glock out / I just hopped out lookin' like a knock-out / Showed these bitches how to do it, but they dropped out," Minaj said on the Crocodile Teeth (remix).
Minaj took to Instagram live before the release of her extended mixtape, which also included a conversation with Drake. Listen to "Beam Me Up Scotty" on Apple Music.
Nicki Minaj Speaks On Her Father's Death
After tragically losing her father, Robert Maraj, 64, in a hit-and-run on February 12th, Minaj released a statement to the official Nicki Minaj website stressing her despair.
Mr Maraj, who was hit whilst walking along a road in Mineola, Long Island, was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop, according to reports by the Associated Press.
Minaj, who also mourned the death of the hip-hop veteran and "X Gon' Give It To Ya" rapper, DMX (Earl Simmons), said in the statement:
"Tho I can't really bring myself to discuss the passing of my father as yet; I can say it has been the most devastating loss of my life. I find myself wanting to call him all the time. More so now that he's gone. Life is funny that way. May his soul rest in paradise. He was very loved & will be very missed,"
She also added: "P.S. The passing of DMX hit me like a ton of bricks. Losing him felt like losing someone I grew up with. I adored him. Blessings to his family.
"Time to make more history together, my loves ❤️"
