The Ruff Ryders legend DMX has been committed to hospital after suffering a heart attack reportedly triggered by an overdose.

UPDATE #1: An attorney for DMX has confirmed that the rapper has " been in the hospital as a result of a heart attack. He has been taken off life support system and he's breathing on his own", after inaccuries of his condition began to circulate online. We, as with many outlets said, that Earl Simmons was in a "vegetative state".

The world of hip hop has come to a stand still after Earl Simmons, professionally known as DMX (Dog Man X), was confirmed to be in a "vegetative state" after enduring a heart attack.
Sources close to the rap legend told TMZ that his trauma was triggered by an overdose (OD) and he "has some brain activity", however, doctors have cautioned little hope with recovery.
According to reports, the OD occurred at his home around 11pm. The "Lord Give Me A Sign" rapper was then rushed to the White Plains hospital, NY, where he stays in intensive care.
D.M.X's Unfortunate Substance Misuse
Although there hasn't been recent reports of a relapse, the 50-year-old, checked into rehab in 2019 after being released from custody, with fears of succumbing to "temptations".
His last known relapse occurred in 2018 after using cocaine and Oxycodone, which resulted in custody (remand), after he prematurely left a drug treatment program ordered by the court.
Attempting to make change and returning to the stage to perform his past hits, DMX showcased his material to adoring fans in Hakkassan, Las Vegas.
His last big performance was aired on Instagram Live, where he faced off with the "Gin and Juice" legend Snoop Dogg, for a Verzuz battle in 2020.
Hip hop icons including Ja Rule, Missy Elliot and Rick Ross have all expressed their prayers for the rapper. "Prayers up for my brother DMX", Elliot said, whilst the "Gold Roses" rapper, Rick Ross, posted a video calling the rapper a "legend".
