The British sensation Stormzy sarcastically rejects DJ Vlad's invite to his notorious platform for interviews Vlad TV. The star's currently touring the United States promoting his successful #HITH album, and the U.S mainstream can't get enough.
What Happened?
It seems that DJ Vlad wants a peace of Britain's finest, as he currently does promotional work in the United States for his number 1 Heavy Is The Head album. The American interviewer asked on Twitter "Ay @stormzy, come through and do a VladTV interview while you're on this side of the world.", for which the King of Grime responded with "I ain't tryna talk about how many times I've been stabbed" - as seen in the tweet further below.
The reason for Stormzy's sarcasm's likely due to DJ Vlad's "no barrier questioning", and controversial interview style. DJ Vlad born Vlad Lyubovny - Russian - often cross-examines guests primarily focusing on their negative experiences. Although his interviews prompt an abundance of intrigue - #SouljaBoyChallenge - many have questioned his intent to dig deep into matters better left buried due to sensitivity, or irrelevance.
DJ Vlad has been called the worst music journalist ever by critics, as he commonly instigates discussions about beef, rumors, and sexuality. His persuasive tactics to enable talks about homosexuality hasn't been received well to no ones surprise. Tanizzle has counted no less than 18 videos that suggest "the wrongs of homosexuality in hip hop" or "undercover gay rappers", and a video that compares gay men to pedophiles.
Stormzy Has Been Busy
The idea of increased fame, fortune, and celebrity has intensified for Stormzy ever since his phenomenal performance at Glastonbury 2019 - where he wore a stab-proof vest designed by guerrilla artist Banksy. Stormzy has since appeared on the The Jonathon Ross Show #TheJRShow in November 2019, various radio shows, and television appearances.
State Side Debut
Stormzy's work rate isn't likely to decrease anytime soon, as he recently debuted on American TV performing Crown on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He was supported by a full choir, and band for the live rendition on the show that interviews popular personalities to provide insights into their personal, and professional lives.
Charlamagne The God
During an interview with journalist Charlamagne Tha God on what he thought about Drake's "leaning into drill music" being positive or negative, Stormzy implied that it wasn't entirely negative and supports the idea of Drake paying homage to the UK style - consequently excelling it's exposure.
Recent claims of successful mainstream artists being culture vultures including Drake, and Ed Sheeran has been a talk among fans, and critics including the UK's Wiley. The "Wearing My Rolex" legend, and God Father of Grime isn't a fan of neither Ed or Drizzy, and recently "sent" - Grime slang for battling a fellow artist AKA clash - for Stormzy triggering the hashtag #WileyVsStormzy online.
Wiley Vs Stormzy
The "beef" between the urban acts started after Wiley excused the idea of Stormzy turning down a collaboration with Jay Z. Thankfully friendly but full of "mom" insults diss tracks included Eediyat Skengman 1, and Eediyat Skengman 2 from Wiley, as well as Disappointed and Still Disappointed from Stormzy.
Let's it make it very clear when saying that #StormzyIsWinning in respect to popularity, and some suggest that his music's better than Wiley's too - it's definitely far reaching, but let's not undermine Wiley the pioneer of a culture. The Wiley Vs Stormzy saga has given the Camden Assembly a reason to host the first Stormzy vs Wiley Party - you can't make it up lol.
What do you think is Stormzy's fame bound to decrease anytime soon, or is Wiley's music better? Share your views.
