Jesy Nelson has announced that she has parted ways with her girl band Little Mix, after 9 years of the industry taking a toll on her mental health.
Jesy Nelson Says Goodbye To Little Mix
Bless You Jesy. It may be tragic for their fans but a right step in direction for Jesy Nelson, who quits her band Little Mix, after revealing her journey (in the industry) "took a toll on her mental health".
The 29-year-old "Black Magic" singer took to her Instagram page to announce her departure in a lengthy statement, after taking an extended time off from her band; recently raising concerns.
Appreciating her successes and support from fans "for making her feel like the luckiest girl in the world", Jesy said she was leaving with a "heavy heart", to embark on a new chapter in her life.
"The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health," she said. "I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard," she added.
Since winning The X Factor in 2011, the time finally came for Jesy to "reinvest in taking care of herself", opposed to "focussing on making other people happy."
The singer thanked her ex band members Jade Thirwall, Perrie Edwards, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, "for creating the most amazing memories she'll never forget."
Meanwhile, on Twitter, the girls expressed their discomfort during this "incredibly sad time", with the group fully supportive of her actions.
"After an amazing 9 years together Jesy has made the decision to leave Little Mix. This is an incredibly sad time for all of us but we are fully supportive of Jesy," the Tweet began.
"We love her very much and agree that it is so important that she does what is right for her mental health and well-being. We are still very much enjoying our Little Mix journey and the 3 of us are not ready for it to be over."
They added: "We know that Jesy leaving the group is going to be really upsetting news for our fans. We love you guys so much and are so grateful for your loyalty and continued support of all of us. We're looking forward to seeing so many of you on tour.
"Love always, Jade, Perrie and Leigh-Anne xxx," the statement concluded.
