The French-British rapper Octavian has been accused of 'physical, violent and emotional abuse' by his former girlfriend, Emo Baby.
What Happened to Octavian?
The French-British rapper Octavian Oliver Godji, professionally known as Octavian, has been accused of "physical, violent and emotional abuse" by his ex-partner, Emo Baby. The "Papi Chulo" lyricist, aged 24, was exposed online after a series of social media posts emerged on her Instagram, detailing distressful encounters.
Emo Baby claimed that he first assaulted her in April 2020, during her pregnancy with his first child. "After pressuring me to get an abortion, he attacked me for the first time, kicked me in my stomach, burst my lip, attacked me with a hammer and threatened to kill me," she wrote.
In her initial Instagram story, Emo Baby said: "I was in a relationship with Octavian over the last 3 years and I am finally speaking out about the constant physical, verbal, and psychological abuse I was subject to during that relationship."
She continued: "A police report has been made which is taking a little longer as I am in a different country for my own safety and well-being.
"The first instance of physical abuse came shortly after I fell pregnant with his child. After pressuring me to get an abortion he attacked me for the first time, kicked me in my stomach, burst my lip, attacked me with a hammer and threatened to kill me."
Emo Baby then claimed that she was then asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to keep quite, along with hush money in the form of £20,000, for which she refrained from signing.
Adding context to her statement posted to Instagram, Emo Baby said: "LOOK AT MY INSTAGRAM STORIES HIGHLIGHT FOR THE VIDEOS- PLEASE SHARE - HES TRYING TO SILENCE ME - My post has been removed after reports to Instagram from representatives of Octavian."
She added, "I'm now being threatened from various mediums in attempts to silence me. On his Instagram he's still taunting. I will not be silenced. I appreciate everyone support."
Emo Baby later thanked her followers "for all the overwhelming support" in a later repost of media, after Instagram supposedly took down material on behalf of Octavian. Her revelations drew support from Dua Lipa, Mabel, Yung Filly, Iamddb and more.
"Just like I said on the last post. You are a warrior! We are all here and stand by you! Thank you for having the courage to share your truth," said BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ, Tiffany Calver.
In her most recent post, Emo Baby said: "Reposting the videos yesterday that were taken down by Instagram through Octavian. I've also included the police report in the last slide. Thank you firstly for all the overwhelming support. I want to make clear that abusers do NOT exist without enablers and that's a conversation that needs to be had.
"There are many ADULTS who need to be held accountable for the part they played in my abuse. Octavian's entire gang and music team were well aware of what was going on. Infact jrickessie please do not post a statement on your Instagram saying otherwise and being congratulated for 'standing against' the man you currently live with."
She added: "If you were really so 'shocked' you would've reached out to the victim. I'm still being called a liar with video evidence. Please think of the 10000s of women who don't even have any evidence and have to deal with the abuser fabricating lies and will never get their justice. It shouldn't take that for a victim to be believed."
Unsurprisingly, Octavian's PR company, Pattern Publicity, and management, Metallic Inc., have subsequently distanced themselves from him. Severing ties with Octavian, Pattern Publicity said in a statement: "After these allegations have come to light, we have stopped all work with Octavian as we cannot condone, nor support, abusive behaviour."

What Do You Think?
Is Octavian cancelled? Would you buy his album tomorrow? We think he's finished but considering it's 2020 (a very mad year), who knows what people condone considering the madness surrounding Tory Lanez and 6ix9ine - forgiving snitches and abusers so easily.
