The 'Do The Most' artist, Tory Lanez, has been charged with shooting Megan Thee Stallion, but what's next for the Canadian superstar? We wonder.
Will Tory Lanez Face Jail?
For the fans of Daystar Peterson, professionally known as Tory Lanez, the news of him being charged for shooting Megan Thee Stallion may be shocking. For his opposing critics, obviously, the latter, regardless of his adamant account of innocence.
The 28-year-old Canadian musician was charged with firearm offences including, a felony count each of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, on the October 8th. Lanez also faces a gun allegation; personally inflicting a great bodily injury.
How long will Tory Lanez do in prison? According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Lanez faces a possible maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in state prison. On the matter of "great bodily injury," the Penal Code 12022.7 says: "great bodily injury means a significant or substantial physical injury."
The charges against Lanez are very serious and with a court hearing drawing nearer on October 13th, he's going to need a better defence strategy "helpful," than the music project he recently released. The 17 track project, self-titled "Daystar", features Lanez denying the allegations against him.
Initially, Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, better known as Megan Thee Stallion, claimed to have sustained injuries from glass, in an altercation on July 12th in the Hollywood Hills. Megan later "set the record straight" in a lengthy Instagram post, addressing that Sunday morning's events, as a victim of gunshot wounds.
Along with the post, Megan's caption read: "I was never arrested. This whole experience was an eye opener and a blessing in disguise. I hate that it took this experience for me to learn how to protect my energy."
In a tweet posted by Lanez on October 9th, the rapper said with a mix of emojis and text: "Time will tell and the truth will come to the light." He continued, "I have all faith in God to show that... love to all my fans and people that have stayed true to me & know my heart... a charge is not a conviction."
He concluded: "If you have supported me or meg thru this, I genuinely appreciate u."
Meanwhile, Megan, has not responded to his comments. The "Hot Girl" recently slammed Lanez's team for allegedly spreading "misinformation" online. "Stop acting like black women is aggressive when all they be doing is speaking the... facts," she said, after being labelled a "snitch" and "aggressor" towards Lanez.
What Do You Think?
Will Tory Lanez do a "bird" or could he be innocent? FYI, the word "bird" in this context is British slang for a prison sentence, that's usually long in duration.
