In an unexpected flex, the singer Tory Lanez broke his silence on social media to promote a 17 song album titled 'Daystar' online.
Tory Lanez Denies Megan Thee Stallion's Accusations
The "Who Needs Love" singer, Tory Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, has denied allegations against him concerning a shooting involving Megan Thee Stallion. The Canadian musician, 28, broke his silence on the subject with the announcement of a 17-track, self-titled project, "Daystar."
In the unexpected "flex," considering we honestly expected a formal statement, Lanez dismissed the idea of injuring the 25-year-old rapper from Houston, on the album released today (25 Sept).
Even with the seriousness of allegations for which he has been accused, Lanez seems to be nonchalant. In his first tweet, Lanez apologised to his fans for being silent, assumingly, in regards to Megan's gun shot injuries; and implied that he had "time to explain." Lanez said on Twitter:
"To my fans. I'm sorry for my silence. but respectfully. I got time today. 9 PM PST."
In his second tweet, with a blatant disregard to formally addressing any allegations (we're not saying he owes it to us), the 5 ft 3 artist gave us his best hint of a "music project" launch, by mentioning "platforms." Similarly to others, we expected a public address via Instagram.
"There is a time to stay silent. And a time to speak. I said all I could say on this. ALL PLATFORMS," the Quarantine Radio star began in the post. Lanez then continued, as well as including his project's title in it's hashtag form, saying, "#DAYSTAR. I'll be back to y'all soon. respectfully."
Is Tory Lanez Shamelessly Benefiting From The Shooting?
To nobody's surprise, the release of "Daystar" was met with a swift backlash on the web. Many netizens scrutinised the "Temperature Rising" artist for using the assault on Megan as a promotional effort; in order to gain music streams. His critics have asked followers "not to stream" the project, but the request may have heightened the project's appeal.
For clarity, Lanez hasn't been charged in connection of the shooting, however, LAPD is conducting an investigation. Meanwhile, continuously claiming his innocence, the rapper said, "Megan['s] people trying to frame me for a shooting / But them boys ain't clean enough," on "Money Over Fallouts," a track on the album.
Until an official police matter's concluded, we can't judge Tory's actions as much as we want to. Regardless of this, we still stand by Megan Thee Stallion, as she was made a victim; evidently shot. If she happens to be lying, she's ridiculously mad, and "with shame" casts a dark cloud on victims of abuse.
