Rihanna Questions A$AP Rocky
Our marvellous queen Rihanna, real name Robyn Fenty, became interestingly inquisitive for 11 minutes straight, with 18 variant questions for A$AP Rocky. Rocky, who's also known as Rakim Athelaston Nakache Mayers, went "face to face" with the Fenty Beauty mogul over a live stream, for GQ (Gentleman's Quarterly) magazine.
Looking fabulous as she always does, whatever the weather, the "Diamonds" singer Rihanna began to ask Rocky a series of questions ranging from topics including health and beauty, food, and fashion. Rocky, who self describes his skin type as "handsome," was happy to answer the bossette's (boss lady) inquiries - video below.
Straight off the bat, Rihanna asked "what is A$AP Rocky's favourite curse word?" for which he responded with "f*ck." To be honest, he's not alone on that one, as some of us here are known to be prolific users of the four-lettered word. Rocky also said, "f*ck ... I just dropped my glasses," as an example of the word's multipurpose, opposed to it's typical vulgar meanings.
When Rihanna asked Rocky to "name a food you would never eat", we weren't surprised to hear "chitterlings," which are usually made from an animal's large "intestines." This wouldn't have been the first thing that came to our minds, but considering it's out there, no thanks. Rihanna also agreed but sarcastically said, "unless it's good for your skin."
Did you know that intestines, if not cleaned properly, can carry a variety of dangerous bacteria? It's best to stay away from them in our opinion, and why on earth do people actually eat them?
Rocky was asked, "what's the hardest part about working with me?" We could see it in his beaming, often wondering eyes, that there was likely more he wanted to say. But in a true chivalrous manner, the "Babushka Boi" rapper began to compliment her banter and charm. Rocky said, "the hardest part is not having too much fun."
As you've probably witnessed, Rihanna is down to earth and doesn't mind to joke occasionally. Rocky clearly indicated this by calling her "cool" and also regretted not being able to have more fun, especially when in the professional capacity. In other words she's great company, but business means business.
When it comes to self care routines, there's no strict regime that people should follow, however, the end goal remains the same; improving the quality of life. Rocky was asked, "what's your self-care routine?" The "L$D" rapper mentioned showering, exfoliating, moisturising, and grooming. Although his routine sounds great, we recommend you drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.
Speaking of recommendations, if you're not particularly sure of exfoliating products, we suggest the considerably popular pure Himalayan pink salt body scrub, AKA the weapon against cellulite, known for improving healthy and radiant skin. If you prefer convenience, for example with home professional devices, why not check out this skin care anti-aging device that stimulates collagen and elastin production.
In two quickly answered questions, Rihanna asked Rocky "what age did you discover skincare?" and "what's the first skincare product you bought?" The rapper disclosed the age of 14 for his first skincare discovery, and mentioned a skin cleanser he didn't purchase. He was introduced to the cleanser after digging through his mother's draws or cupboards.
Rihanna got a little cheeky after asking Rocky "what's your last purchase under $20?" Before he could answer, the "Umbrella" songstress said "condoms," before giggling. Rocky, supposedly bought a t-shirt for $11 dollars and Rihanna seemed quite surprised by asking "where does A$AP Rocky buy a t-shirt for eleven dollars?" He then went on to say, "I'll take a free t-shirt, my favourite price is three ninety nine," prompting Rihanna to laugh.
On the topic of inexpensive purchases, the options for bargain fashion are unbounded especially when considered "fast" - the likes of BooHoo, PrettyLittleThings, MissGuided, and so on. Do women like men who look after themselves? There isn't one answer for this, but A$AP Rocky was given some advice by Rihanna who claimed women "enjoy men" who take care of themselves, and thinks it's a "big deal." Rihanna said, "as much as you guys think about your nails and your skin, we think about that too."
Rocky wasn't inspired by any male icons who pampered themselves when growing up, as he "didn't think it was a thing." From herein and since July, he'll likely be an inspiration for many young lads in light of his association with Rihanna's Fenty Skin range, along with the "Old Town Road" rapper Lil Nas X.
Rihanna took the liberty of asking Rocky "what was your first red carpet look?" She then made a few jokes about his appearance at the BET Awards after an assistant showed her an image. Rocky wore all black clothing, a hat, and a Hermès belt. Rihanna joked by insisting that he stop mentioning Hermès, as it wouldn't make the drip look "dope." We must admit, Rocky looked rather basic in comparison to his style today.
Remember that satin mini dress with matching gloves, a wrap, and a choker necklace that Rihanna wore to the 2019 British Fashion Awards? That's what Rocky revealed as his favourite outfit worn by Rihanna. His revelation seemed to surprise her even if she loved the look herself. For clarity, the Fenty mogul asked him "what's your favourite outfit of mine?" It would have been difficult for us to make a choice, as we love everything Rihanna serves. It really is that deep.
We could be here forever going through all the questions Rihanna had for Rocky, but we're not going to so you can watch the video below. We are however going to highlight some important issues relating to equality in the industry, after Rihanna asked Rocky "what do you wish more people were talking about in the beauty industry?"
Sometime ago, the fashion and beauty industry wasn't as inclusive as it is today. With the exception of Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks, people of colour had less opportunities opposed to their lighter equivalents, and this wasn't limited to the typical runway environment - Who is the Queen of the catwalk?
Rocky made some valid points when he spoke about more versatility and diversity within the industry, and mentioned the "old fashioned" blueprint, that's currently and thankfully being re-modelled.
These industries won't change overnight, but with more guidance from BAME representatives, others can pursue their goals with confidence. Rihanna is an inspiration for all women, but for women of colour who have aspirations of owning businesses, she's an icon. Let's not forget about the plus size women her brand highly caters to.
In other similar news, and whilst nearly finishing off this article, we came to learn of Rocky's 15 questions for Rihanna for Vogue. If we had known of the video before hand, we would have merged some questions and answers here. Other than that, we think Rihanna and Rocky have a lot of chemistry and it's great to see, even though we're jealous of Rocky's position LOL!
